You have probably heard by now that Windows 10 will be released on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. One of the questions that we at Catalyst Tech Solutions hear the most is whether one should upgrade to Windows 10.
The short answer is “No”.
The long answer is that due to several factors, it’s unwise to upgrade to Windows 10. Here are some of the factors:
- Security: We don’t accurately know Windows 10’s security prowess because it has not been properly tested in the open by several million people. After July 29, we’ll have a clearer picture.
- Compatibility: There are hundreds of software out there. Unless your software vendor has authorized your software for Windows 10 use, it would be wise to wait until you receive the proper authorization.
- Learning curve: Unlike the nightmare of the Windows 8 interface, Windows 10 has a better, more intuitive interface. This should make it easier to learn Windows 10. However, you want to give yourself plenty of time to familiarize yourself with it.
Due to these and many other factors, we encourage you to wait for a few weeks to a few months before you upgrade to Windows 10.
